Overview
A multi-warehouse inventory control and supply chain logistics platform designed to provide real-time visibility across stock distribution centers. The system automates purchase order processing, vendor management, minimum stock threshold alerts, barcode tracking, goods return reconciliation, and inter-branch inventory transfers while preventing stockouts and shrinkage.
Problem
Stock lived in several warehouses and nobody could see all of it at once. Counts were reconciled after the fact, which is how a branch ends up ordering what another branch is holding, and how shortages and shrinkage are noticed only once they have cost something.
My role
Full stack developer — engineered inter-service communication protocols, inventory API endpoints, and responsive client interfaces.
Architecture
Microservices architecture with low-latency gRPC inter-service communication, REST APIs, MySQL relational database, and an Angular single-page application.
Key challenge
A stock count is only useful while it is current, and splitting the system into services puts the count on the other side of a network call. An inter-branch transfer has to leave one warehouse and arrive at another as a single fact, never as two half-applied ones — which is why inter-service communication here is gRPC rather than REST, and why returns and transfers are reconciled rather than simply recorded.
Result
Stock is visible across distribution centres in real time, with purchase orders, vendor records, threshold alerts, barcode tracking, returns and inter-branch transfers handled in the same system.
